Please read these terms before using the City of Joburg e-Recruitment service. Together with our privacy policy and POPIA disclosure, they describe the rules of the platform.

  1. 01

    Acceptance

    Binding·From first use

By using the City of Joburg e-Recruitment service, you accept these terms of use. The service is operated by the City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality and its municipal entities as part of the City's public-sector recruitment process. If you do not accept these terms, please do not use the service.
  2. 02

    Your account

    One person·One profile·True information

You may create one candidate account. The information you provide — name, ID number, qualifications, work history — must be true and current. Material misrepresentation may disqualify your application and, where appropriate, be reported to the relevant authority. You are responsible for keeping your credentials safe.
  3. 03

    Acceptable use

    Lawful·Respectful·No automation

Use the service only for legitimate job-seeking, recruitment, or related public enquiries. Do not attempt to gain unauthorised access, scrape data, upload malicious files, harass other users or staff, or interfere with the service's normal operation. Automated submissions are not permitted.
  4. 04

    Recruitment process

    PFMA·MFMA·Public Service Act

Recruitment for the City of Johannesburg and its entities is conducted in accordance with the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), the Municipal Finance Management Act (MFMA), the Public Service Act, and applicable City policies. The platform is the channel through which we receive applications — it does not alter, override, or accelerate any statutory hiring process. Outcomes are determined by appointed selection committees, not by the platform.
  5. 05

    Content you submit

    CVs·Documents·Cover letters

You retain ownership of the documents and information you upload. You grant the City and its entities a limited licence to store, process, and review your submissions for recruitment purposes, including sharing with the relevant selection committee. We handle your information in line with the privacy policy and the POPIA disclosure.
  6. 06

    Intellectual property

    City brand·Entity marks·Platform

The City of Johannesburg name, logo, municipal entity marks, and the e-Recruitment platform itself remain the property of their respective owners. You may not copy, republish, or use these marks without written permission. Job adverts may be shared for personal, non-commercial use with attribution.
  7. 07

    Service availability

    Best effort·No guarantee

We aim to keep the service available at all times, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. Scheduled maintenance, technical incidents, or load-shedding may cause temporary outages. Where a closing date falls during an outage, we will publish guidance on how to submit late where appropriate.
  8. 08

    Suspension or removal

    Misuse·Fraud·Statutory grounds

The City reserves the right to suspend or remove accounts that breach these terms, submit fraudulent information, or otherwise misuse the service. Where required by law, suspended accounts may be reported to the South African Police Service or other relevant authorities.
  9. 09

    Liability

    Reasonable care·No consequential loss

The City exercises reasonable care in operating the service but accepts no liability for consequential loss arising from your use of the platform, content posted by third parties, or the outcome of any recruitment process. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under South African law.
  10. 10

    Disputes

    South African law·City contact first

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Before escalating, please raise disputes directly with the City via careers@joburg.org.za. Where a dispute cannot be resolved informally, the courts of Johannesburg shall have jurisdiction.
  11. 11

    Changes to these terms

30 days notice for material changes

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be flagged on the platform at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use of the service after that date constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
